We’re Running the Bath Half for the Royal Osteoporosis Society 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

On 15th March, two familiar faces from our clinic will be swapping the treatment room for the start line of one of the UK’s most iconic races, the Bath Half Marathon.

Liam, one of our chiropractors, and Helen, our practice manager, have both signed up to take on the 13.1-mile course in support of the Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS), raising vital funds and awareness for a charity that’s close to our hearts.

Now, full transparency: Liam will be running the Bath Half, chasing a time, chasing the finish line, and generally looking far too comfortable in running shoes. Helen’s goal is to complete the Bath Half, which, as anyone who’s ever done a half marathon knows, is an achievement in itself and deserves just as much respect (and possibly more snacks afterwards). Different goals, same distance, same brilliant cause.

Why the Royal Osteoporosis Society?

As a clinic, we work with people every day who want to stay active, mobile, and independent for as long as possible. Bone health plays a huge role in that.

The Royal Osteoporosis Society supports the millions of people in the UK affected by osteoporosis and fragile bones, through education, research, and practical help for those living with or at risk of fractures. Their work makes a real difference and it aligns closely with what we care about: keeping people moving, strong, and doing the things they love.

From Clinic to 13.1 Miles

Training is well underway and looks a little different for each of them.

Liam has been racking up the miles all while juggling half marathon training with wedding plans, as he’s due to get married just a few weeks before race day. Helen, meanwhile, has been proving that consistency, determination, and a good sense of humour go a very long way, especially with the weather doing its best to make things difficult. Thanks to all the rain we’ve been having, many of her usual training routes have turned into muddy, slippery obstacle courses rather than nice, sensible runs.  There have been early mornings, tired legs, soggy trainers, but both are taking on a huge challenge alongside very busy schedules, and that’s something to seriously admire.

For both of them, this is about:

  • Raising awareness of osteoporosis and bone health
  • Supporting a charity that makes a real difference
  • Setting a personal challenge (whether that’s a time goal or a finish-line goal!)
  • And showing that staying active is for everyone, at every level

How You Can Support Them

If you’d like to support Liam and Helen, you can donate to the Royal Osteoporosis Society via their fundraising page:

Every donation, big or small, helps fund research, support services, and education that can genuinely change lives.

If you’re in the clinic over the next few weeks, feel free to ask how training is going, just be prepared for two very different answers!

We’re Proud of Our Team

We’re incredibly proud of both Liam and Helen for taking this on and for representing our clinic in such a positive way. Whether it’s running it or conquering it one mile at a time, they’re both doing something brilliant for a fantastic cause.

We’ll be cheering them on every step of the way on 15th March and we’ll be sure to share an update after race day too.

Good luck, Liam and Helen – you’ve got this! 💪🏅
